Monsoon rains give reason of playing with colours, pleasent and wet weather needn’t deaden your passion for fashion. There are ways and means of staying in vogue and comfortable while protecting yourself from the wet weather! Use the monsoon to add a shade of style to your life. It doesn’t have to drab you down.

Monsoons now mean adopting latest styles in accordance with the need of the weather, like bright colours. Colours dominate the clothings for this season and give designers a very big chance of playing with them. Most of the designers recommend bright hues for this period of year.

One should go crazy with colours both in clothing and in accessories so fill up your wardrobe with that eye-catching block print or a delicate floral print or even that little fancy embroidery that is forever in trend. Full length should be said no to. If you grace yourself with full sleeves, and long dupattas sweeping the floor then you are asking for trouble! Instead follow a sensible style, which can prevent a mess, like sleeves, which end at the elbow. It is more comfortable to wipe wet hands and feet clean with a hand-towel, rather than enter the office with full-length sleeves and trailing trousers that are drenched.

Cotton has always been considered as the favourite fabric forthis monsoon season as it dries up fast and is comfortable to wear. For most Karachiites a cotton T-shirt and a pair of cotton capris is the ideal wear this season.

Syed M.Adeel Ibrahim, a working man who loves being called a fashion freak, says: “Contemporary to street fashion any day! I would like to wear a T-shirt of light colors having soft regular fabric along with Bermudas or walk shorts of parachute material because it does not get wet like other fabrics. Black is more appropriate for rough weather and the environment and condition of the city. Since I like to enjoy rain therefore I like to wear strapped sandals, which give equal style and comfort over other footwear.â€

Sana, a university student, says, “Being a girl it is pretty much orthodox to wear stylish clothes when it rains! I like to wear trouser pajamas along with T-shirts of soft fabrics but dark in colors along with slippers, which I really feel comfortable in.â€

Faiza Rehman, a student of 17 says, “Rainy season in Karachi is

quite humid so I prefer to wear light fabrics of cotton or lawn. Most of my friends prefer cotton People usually avoid joggers and ornate sandals with gems and stones because they can get spoiled and wear bright rubber chappals which is a new fashion.†Arafat Ali Junejo, a college student hates the rain, because of it spoiling his clothes when he’s out. He prefers buying umbrellas other than going for some clothes collection, because of them being very useful. For him umbrellas are a mark of his style, furthermore he says, “Now that it’s raining regularly in Karachi every year, umbrellas have assumed a new meaning and are useful. I always go for nice umbrellas, I want them to match with my clothes.â€

Humidity can damage the hair; this season hair should be taken special care of. Brush your hair regularly and use a wide-toothed comb and avoid using brush as it tends to break easily if hair is wet. Short hair is easier to comb and easy to dry and can bounce back to it’s proper style soon after. Get short haircuts and if not then tie up your long hair and dry it soon after it gets wet.

Other than clothes, there are different types of trendy shoes and chappals, which are available in various colours, ranging from 150 rupees onwards. Get yourself a good pair of rain shoes which allow the water to flow out easily. Rubber flip flops will help you keep your expensive footgear from getting spoiled. And yes don’t forget to get a pedicure once the rains are over!
